About Corn Dollies
Corn dollies and harvest figures are often viewed as symbols of fertility in the UK. They are usually made from wheat, oats, barley or rye. The ritual of making the corn dolly from the last sheaf and keeping it for the next season was largely lost in the UK, but there has once again been a resurgence of interest in the craft. Early designs were very simple and the designs we recognise now have largely evolved since the 1950’s.
